Sustainability is not just a buzz word, it’s the way forward for everyone. At UVB we take our impact on the environment seriously and have worked to ensure everything we do is as sustainable as possible.
In January 2026 we were awarded the ECOsmart Gold accreditation, having previously held the Silver award. We are currently working towards the Platinum award.
We operate a zero waste to landfill policy, actively seek to reduce food waste, use water restriction measures in the bathrooms and use energy efficient sensor activated lighting. We operate a no single use plastics policy and our drinking water is filtered into glass bottles onsite, fresh every day for our guests.
Our catering partners, Wilson Vale, are B Corp certified and source our food supplies from local suppliers wherever possible. Our drinks are also locally sourced where possible and we work closely with many Birmingham-based businesses for our business needs such as creative design, social media and advertising needs. And that’s just naming a few of our sustainable choices!
In addition to these, our buildings have their own sustainable credentials – the Library of Birmingham is BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certified and the Rep has an extensive ‘reuse and repurpose’ policy for their working materials.
Measure your Event's Carbon Footprint
We are able to track our carbon footprint per meeting space, per hour, which allows us to help event organisers track their event's carbon emissions. Work with our Operations Team to make your event as sustainable as possible.
